Duet of Suada Alakbarova and Omar Sultanov has been chosen to represent Azerbaijan at the contest. Suada has applied to the preselection originally in duet with Togrul Karimov, but jury has decided to split them, finally giving her another partner in face of Omar.

"Given the recent successes of duets in the international competitions we have decided to debut in Junior Eurovision with a duet entry", explained head of delegation Husniye Magarramova. The professional jury has included: Faiq Suсaddinov, Lala Kazimova and Vuqar Camalzadaye. Other music professionals, such as Faiq Agayev, Isa Melikov, Murad Arif, Ulviyye Veliyeva have attended the show and gave comments to the entrants.

The representative will be selected among 5 finalists- Narmin Hasanova, Omar Sultanov, Gamartaj Maqsudova, Suada Alakbarova and Togrul Karimov. One of Eurovision-2011 winners Eldar Qasimov has been also invited to the today's show as a guest.

At the first stage, 12 entrants have been chosen from 31 applicants (entries were also received from children living abroad, such as in Turkey and Canada). Then 5 of them were shortlisted by jury decision at the internal casting round. Those 5 will attend the preselection final. The preselection was run by jury that included Faiq Suсeddinov, Lala Kazimova, Vuqar Camalzade and Husniye Maherramova.

The exact format and date of the preselection final have not yet been determined, but the Azerbaijani representatative at the contest will be named at televized show which will take place by the heads of delegations meeting scheduled for October 15th. Finalists will each record their entries, chosen from the list of more than 30 proposals.

Finalists were introduced to the public for the first time on 2nd of October in Saleh Bagirov's "Yeni gun" program on ITV. In the program also took part head of Azerbaijani delegation at Eurovision Husniye Maherramova and popular singer Irada Ibrahimova. "Azerbaijan will take part in Junior Eurovision for the first time, and this year it is anniversary edition of this contest. We will be going to Amsterdam with good mood and hope for the victory", - said Husniye Maherramova.

На початковому етапі було вибрано 12 учасників з 31 кандидата, який подав заявки (вони надійшли і з-за кордону, від дітей жівующіх в Туреччині і Канаді). Потім рішенням професійного журі на закритому відборі з них було вибрано п'ять, які візьмуть участь у фіналі. The song Gentleman was written by Ulviya Veliyeva on the lyrics of Ruhiyya Rustamova. На розгляд телеканалу свій проект запропонувала композитор Ульвіє Велиева, яка вже кілька років пропагує в країні ідею участі Азербайджану в Дитячому Євробаченні (ESCKAZ писав про це вже кілька разів в минулому).
